Rep. Ilhan Omar demanded an explanation from ICE over ‘cruel’ deportations and SHE GOT IT PUBLICLY

Representative Ilhan Omar issued a demand for an explanation from federal authorities this week. She wants to know why they are deporting around 39 detainees from her home district. Her demand comes with a vicious tone accusing ICE of intentionally trying to plague Somalia with CoVID-19.

Yes, you read that right. She is accusing ICE of intentionally spreading CoVID to Somalia.

The concern was brought to attention when immigration lawyers, advocates, and Omar said a deportation flight was headed for Somalia and it could have passengers with COVID-19 symptoms aboard.

“We have now learned that at least one detainee has tested positive for COVID-19 and that others are showing symptoms,” Omar told CQ Roll Call. “Let’s be clear — deporting people who have COVID-19 is pure cruelty — not just for the individuals themselves, but for the countless who could contract the illness. And we know that ICE has done this before.”

“ICE is set to deport dozens of individuals from my district to Somalia, risking the spread of COVID. ICE’s actions will not only put these individuals at risk, but could have far-reaching consequences for Somalia. This week, I sent a letter to ICE to get answers,” posted Omar on social media.

“Deporting immigrants during a pandemic is cruel — but deporting immigrants infected with COVID-19 and exporting the virus to other countries is on an entirely different level of inhumane. ICE must be held accountable,” she added.

Well she got her answer from ICE, and several OTHERS who wanted to make sure she understood the truth.

ICE responded to the Congresswoman, stating “This week, ICE removed 39 detainees to Somalia. Nearly all had criminal histories, including murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, rape, solicitation of a minor, sexual assault on a minor, fleeing a peace officer, indecent exposure, drug trafficking, and DWI.”

“We also removed a Somali man convicted of aiding terrorists. From approximately April 2008 to August 2012, Mahdi Mohammaed Hashi served as a member of al-Shabaab in Somalia,” added the agency.

“These crimes include murder, rape, domestic violence, assault, sexual assault, crimes against children, drug trafficking, and conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. These individuals have created countless victims and were a serious threat to public safety,” Tony Pham, the Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Director for ICE, wrote.

This response takes the cake!
