NFL Veteran Identifies the ‘Ultimate Form of Racism,’ and People Kneeling For the Anthem Won’t Like It

NFL players, along with other professional and collegiate athletes, have been refusing to stand for the national anthem for going on two seasons now. Their reasoning is that they are protesting police brutality against black Americans, as well as oppression in general. But one NFL player is calling them out for their hypocrisy, saying they’re ignoring one major form of racism.

Benjamin Watson is a tight end for the Baltimore Ravens, and he is also an outspoken pro-life advocate. And he had a strong opinion on the NFL’s national anthem protests, but what he said isn’t something that a lot of his fellow athletes will approve of.

“Abortion is the leading cause of death among black Americans and the ultimate form of racism,” he said.

Watson pointed to the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, as an example of why the prevalence of abortion among black Americans is so racist. “I do know that blacks kind of represent a large portion of the abortions, and I do know that honestly the whole idea with Planned Parenthood and Sanger in the past was to exterminate blacks,” he said. “And it’s kind of ironic that it’s working.”

There have been over 1 billion abortions worldwide since 1980, and according to the Center for Disease Control, black women have “the highest abortion rate (27.0 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44 years) and ratio (420 abortions per 1,000 live births).”

NFL Hall of Fame Coach Tony Dungy applauded Watson for having the courage to speak out.

In the United States, black people make up just 12.5% of the population, but account for 35% of all abortions. Planned Parenthood also targets minority neighborhoods, placing 79% of their facilities in or within walking distance of them. And while Dungy — and by extension, Watson — received a lot of backlash for speaking out, he refused to back down.

Watson also spoke at last year’s March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., standing up for life despite the backlash.

He also wrote “Under Our Skin” in 2015, which was about healing racial divisions in America.

What do you think about Watson’s statements?
