Nancy Pelosi Raises Possibility Of Becoming Acting President

It’s not a joke. Nancy Pelosi is very hard at work trying to ensure they have every opportunity possible to make things turn out the way they want them to this November.

Nancy Pelosi has raised the possibility that she will become the acting president if neither President Donald Trump or Democratic nominee Joe Biden receives enough electoral votes in order to declare their victory in November.

On Thursday Pelosi told reporters that she is already preparing the House for a possible role in determining the winner with a vote by each state’s delegation. “We have all sorts of opportunities,” she said.

If a majority does not emerge for either of the candidates both Trump and Biden, Pelosi said:

“then it goes into another range where the speker ecomes the [president]” Then she said “It’s complicated after that,”

What does that sound like to you? 150 years ago is the last time the House played a role in determining the outcome of a presidential election. A 269-269 Electoral College tie or some other kind of dispute that prevents the determination of a clear winner would be the result in a contingent election according to the 12th Amendment. Pelosi was setting that possibility up to reporters, she wanted us to know.

Right now Democrats have a majority in the House with individual lawmakers, however Republicans have a majority of state delegations.

Last week President Trump had this to say:

“And I don’t want to end up in the Supreme Court, and I don’t want to go back to Congress either, even though we have an advantage if we go back to Congress- does everyone understand that? I think it’s 26 to 22 or something because it’s counted one vote per state, so we actually have an advantage.”

At Pelosi’s news conference she had this to say:

“As you may recall, I’ve said…that we will be ready,” and later added that there are many things that can happen before, during , and after the election.

If both the House and Senate delegation vote results in a tie, Pelosi would then become the acting president of the United States. This is the outcome according to the 1947 Presidential Succession Act.

Pelosi spoke referencing to a contested election scenario, she said:

“Anything we do to increase our numbers in the House, whether it’s state delegations or members of Congress wherever they are, will help us hold the House and enlarge our size, win the Senate and elect Joe Biden president of the United States on Election Day- or the few days that it takes to count thereafter,”

She also confirmed that she sent a letter to House Democrats to shift funding to battleground districts. Congress hasn’t had to intervene in a presidential election since 1877.

Lets pray they won’t have to now.

What are your thoughts on Nancy Pelosi doing all she can to set the ducks in order and prepare to become acting President of the United States? Does that sound scary to you?
