Most fathers are dedicated to their daughters, and want to keep them safe from harm — and especially from people like Harvey Weinstein, the now-disgraced Hollywood producer who preyed on countless actresses and celebrities. Weinstein has been accused of sexual assault and harassment, as well as rape. And when one actor learned that his daughter was one of the victims, he didn’t hesitate to respond harshly.
Paul Sorvino is an actor, sculptor, opera singer, and philanthropist. He’s likely most well known for his role in the mob movie “Goodfellas”. His daughter, Mira Sorvino, is also an actress, best known for her movie “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion”. While it seemed that Mira was destined for stardom, her career seemed to stall in the 90s, and now with the exposure of Weinstein’s dirty deeds, we allegedly know why.
In 1995, when Mira was promoting her role in the Woody Allen film “Mighty Aphrodite”, which she won an Oscar for, she encountered Weinstein. The two were alone in a hotel room for the Toronto Film Festival, where she claims that he began to rub her shoulders before trying to take things further, but she was able to escape. A few weeks later, she says that he showed up at her apartment around midnight, and she got him to leave by telling him that her boyfriend was on the way over, and had a male friend come. She claims that because of her rejection, Weinstein had her blacklisted in Hollywood. “There may have been other factors, but I definitely felt iced out and that my rejection of Harvey had something to do with it,” she said.
This was apparently verified when esteemed director Peter Jackson spoke out, which Mira referenced on Twitter.
Just seeing this after I awoke, I burst out crying. There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure. Thank you Peter Jackson for being honest. I’m just heartsick https://t.co/ljK9NqICbm

“I recall Miramax telling us they were a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs. This was probably in 1998,” Jackson said. “At the time, we had no reason to question what these guys were telling us – but in hindsight, I realize that this was very likely the Miramax smear campaign in full swing. I now suspect we were fed false information about both of these talented women – and as a direct result their names were removed from our casting list.”
When he found out, Sorvino didn’t mince any words. “He better hope that he goes to jail. Because if we come across [each other] I think he will be lying on the floor,” he said to TMZ. “He’s gonna go to jail that son of a b****. And good for him if he goes, because if he not, he has to meet me. “And I will kill that motherf*****.”
Sorvino said that he hadn’t known what had happened to Mira until she gave an interview last year to the New Yorker. “If I had known it, he would not be walking, he would be in a wheelchair,” Sorvino said, explaining that he was “furious” when he found out. He also praised Mira, saying, “My daughter is a wonderful and courageous human being. And doesn’t deserve to be treated this way by this pig.”
“This pig will get his comeuppance,” Sorvino said, adding, “I’ll just slap him around, I wouldn’t do anything terrible.”
