Back in July two women were struck by a car whose driver sped through a protest-related closure on a freeway. One was suffering from life-threatening injuries and the other had serious injuries. Summer Taylor, died from her injuries.
“A vehicle drove through the closure and struck multiple pedestrians on the freeway,” Johnson tweeted shortly after 2 a.m. Just before midnight, he had tweeted that portions of Interstate 5 were closed because of protests.
Since this incident, the family of Summer Taylor who was a ‘defund police’ protester killed by the car during the protest held a press conference announcing a lawsuit against the City of Seattle and the State of Washington. They are claiming that police abuse was present during the demonstrations and that the state patrol failed their daughter and other protesters by not protecting them and this resulted in the death of their daughter.
The freeway had been closed by the Washignton State Patrol for the purpose of demonstration after several nights of protesters shutting down the freeway on their own.

The other woman who was hit is Diaz Love, she retained serious injuries, but survived the accident. Washington State Patrol began shutting down the freeway for BLM protesters after many consecutive nights of the protesters blocking the interstate themselves.
The driver of the vehicle who hit the women is Dawit Kelete. Kelete has pled not guilty to all charges. The charges against him are vehicular assault, vehicular homicide and reckless driving.

The family filing the lawsuit alleges that “in response to protests against police discrimination and brutality, the SPD chose to engage in discrimination and brutality.”
They are claiming it is a wrongful death and they want to pin it on the State Troopers for not doing their job in protecting the protesters.

Kelete’s attorneys reported at his first hearing that “Dawit Kelete has been part of the BLM protests. This tragic event was not a political act or statement. On behalf of Kelete and his family, we ask each of you to leave the room for the fact that we witnessed a tragic accident and not a crime.”
The Washington State Troopers are suspecting that Kelete drove onto the closed freeway because he went the wrong way on an off ramp.
Since this incident, Washington State Patrol reversed their policy. They will no longer close the interstate for demonstrations.
BLM protesters are taking over interstates across the country and choosing to put their own lives in danger. There are many reports of these protesters going out onto the freeway to shut down the city.

This is simply horrific and one of the many reasons I detest Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. The so-called “Census Cowboy” she employed for political propaganda reasons, whipped and kicked his horse on a seven-mile protest run. Now, the poor injured horse may have to be put down because of this abuse. The guy forced the horse to run 7 miles down the Dan Ryan Expressway on Monday afternoon. The horse’s name is NuNu and by the time all of this was said and done, he was in critical condition and might have to be euthanized.
Assistant State’s Attorney Kevin Deboni stated that 33-year-old activist Adam Hollingsworth’s horse was not equipped with shoes when he took it “trotting for miles” in a “Kids’ Lives Matter” protest, injuring the horse’s legs and feet. They were bloody at the end of the trek and NuNu must have been in horrible pain. At one point, NuNu collapsed, but Hollingsworth whipped the horse to keep it moving. Two veterinarians examined NuNu and said that the horse “suffered greatly, bled profusely,” collapsed repeatedly, and was not correctly saddled and cushioned. NuNu collapsed repeatedly during treatment as well.
Hollingsworth said that he rode the horse on the Dan Ryan Expressway during rush hour to support the #KidsLivesMatter movement, and then described the initiative as one “that aims to raise awareness and motivate residents to fill out the census to help communities receive better funding.” According to Block Club Chicago, the movement is in response to children killed by gun violence. How about horses killed because of liberal indifference?
But there’s more… Hollingsworth put a post up on Facebook with a video on June 11th stating that he was going to ride his horse til it dies. What a monster. So, he meant to do this. After the 7-plus mile run, the horse’s heart was racing at twice its normal rate, and his eyes were so dilated, they looked like cartoon eyes. Authorities stated that it was the equivalent of forcing an 80-year-old woman to run a full marathon. There were also open sores beneath NuNu’s saddle.
The man appointed by Mayor Lightfoot to be Chicago’s “Census Cowboy” rode his horse until it bled to draw attention to a social justice cause. It didn’t have proper shoes for pavement and suffered extensive damage, galloping for miles. It will be put down. pic.twitter.com/Yp5z85Lmi0
