Rape is one of the most horrific crimes that can be committed. When the victim is a child, it’s even worse. There is no possible excuse that can be made to make up for doing something so terrible, but one rapist defended himself in the worst possible way.
Tyrone S. Stapleton, a 33-year-old man living in Omaha, has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl. He’s currently charged with first degree sexual assault, and he is facing up to 20 years in prison. However, he has an excuse ready, and it is despicable. According to Stapleton, he raped the girl because she “had made a move on him”.
The girl, who is now 15, said in an interview with Project Harmony that Stapleton was able to rape her when he was living with her in her family’s home. According to the affidavit filed in Douglas County Court, he forced her to have sex with him.
“The victim stated that she told him to stop and pushed (him) away but Stapleton responded, ‘It’s OK. It’s OK,’” the report from the police department, written by a detective, says. “The victim stated that it hurt during the incident and (she) told Stapleton to stop again, but Stapleton said, ‘It’s OK’ and put his hand over her mouth.”
When confronted, Stapleton told police that he had been living in an upstairs bedroom with the girl’s family for about two months. When he was told that the girl had accused him of sexual assault, he argued that there was “more to the story” than police knew, and blamed the rape on the victim herself.
“If I was to come tell you that somebody made a move on me, who’s going to believe me?” he said. “The girl would follow me and follow me and follow me around.”
People who read the story didn’t buy his excuse.
“These little girls now a days ‘ ARE ‘ throwing themselves at men and boys,” one man wrote. “[T]he difference being that as a man.. YOU DO NOT DO ANYTHING !! You tell the girl no.. and if necessary, tell her parents. But you never… never do anything with a child.”
“Yeah…those 13 year old girls can be such bullies!” another person wrote. “And they are so tough! As a 6’1″, 210 lb man, I am terrified of the those mean little 13 year old girls. This is what ‘Gender-Equality’ has done to our society.”
“Really. You are a grown a** man!” a woman said.
Do you buy this man’s story?
